Creating a safe environment for students begins well before a volunteer or coach commences their role.
As part of St Joseph's Nudgee College's commitment to child safeguarding, all co-curricular volunteers complete screening and suitability requirements appropriate to their role before they commence.
These requirements form part of the College's NC CLEARs Framework, which helps ensure volunteers are appropriately screened, prepared and supported before working with students.
Screening and suitability processes help the College to:
✔ Protect children and young people.
✔ Support a safe, respectful and inclusive environment.
✔ Meet legislative and child safeguarding obligations.
✔ Verify that volunteers have the appropriate qualifications, licences and experience for their role.
✔ Ensure volunteers understand the responsibilities associated with working in a school environment.
Screening is one part of the College's broader commitment to maintaining a child-safe culture.
The College manages volunteer screening through the NC CLEARs Framework.
